backup and delete

For decades we have been able to backup and delete a client, to move to a flash or other hard drive.  In the latest update a couple of days ago this option is now removed.  The checkbox to delete is still there, but it is now grayed out.  Tech support says no longer an option!  Who, and why was the decision made to delete this option?  Please bring it back immediately.

After over 30 years of using Lacerte it boggles the mind why you do not communicate better to us when you are about to remove something that has been with the program forever.

This function though it seems small is an ABSOLUTE need and removing this ability creates a HUGE problem for us YOUR CUSTOMERS because we now have to jump all around directories in verifying and it adds multiple steps when moving and deleting customers. Imagine if Microsoft Word removed the Paste function ?? ridiculous right?

Time is Money yet Lacerte keeps raising prices yet dropping functions making it harder for us hmmm.   In our tax office with multiple preparers, we put our extension clients into a separate directory at the conclusion of tax season to keep them out of our working directory until they come in for their appt we do this to keep better track of the number of clients left that have not completed their taxes so we do not have to sift through thousands of clients or constantly change our sorting filters to find them.

At the beginning of tax season, we also keep all clients that have not had their appt in a proforma directory until we start working on their taxes which helps us know how many customers we have left that need their taxes done.  Using filters and statuses for this purpose takes too much time and causes us to have to jump through hoops for simple tasks.

Also, When its time for a client to be worked on or an extension client comes in to finally do their taxes this makes it difficult to move their file over to our working directory and creates multi-steps to verify & manually remove the file from the Extension Directory.

Bring it back Immediately !!!!!

I believe this might be the first step in Lacerte requiring to use (and pay for) their cloud services in the future and to gain rights to what we do with our client's information if in their software.  I have various hard drive directories for each year for different things, workups, amendments, etc... I also live overseas (except for tax season) where backups from the office client repository prior to exiting the US is crucial.  To be quite frank, there seems to be a lot of extra services Lacerte is trying to push that our little 2 preparer, 1400 client tax business just have no use for.  I wonder if I need to start looking over their disclosures to see what rights they have to our clients information if we have our clients in their software 😉
