Just spoke to someone at Lacerte. Official as of 3/19: Lacerte software team is looking into how to implement the payment deadline changes announced 3/18 and will send update/notification as soon as they are able.
In our office, anyone already filed and set up for automatic payment who wishes to change is being told to call the number in the Filing Instructions regarding cancelling payment. We will provide vouchers and the client can pay by check at their discretion in conjunction with the extended payment due date.
For clients not yet filed who wish to take advantage of the extended payment due dates, we will have them pay by voucher when they choose (despite the dates in the Filing Instructions).
The person at Lacerte could not confirm if this would work, but we are considering trying this as a possible workaround: filing an extension for a client, thus extending the return due date, to see if this would then allow a change in payment date (possibly requiring attention to any penalty calculation until the software catches up). If anyone's already tried it, let us know!
Actually if you go to the Client Letter input screen 5.1 you can override the date as 07/15/2020 next to Due Date of Return and it will change the due date and payment date. Unfortunately, it doesn't do anything to the estimated payment dates, but we are just hand writing that in for now
