This sounds like a discussion your client should have with the employer. I do not believe that it can be recovered on the 540NR

Line 84 is for "excess" over the total amount for the year due to multiple employers.

It is NOT for something screwed up by ONE employer.

You have to contact that employer to get it refunded.

I had an employee not working in CA and not a resident of CA have SDI tax withheld. How can I get Lacerte to enter this excess SDI tax withheld on line 84 of the 540NR?
