How can future estimated federal income tax payments set up for automatic withdrawal be stopped?

Our client set up automatic federal 2019 estimated tax payments to be withdrawn automatically our of their account through LaCerte.  They now want to stop payments but they have called the number on the Lacerte transmittal letter and the IRS has not been able to stop the payments.   Lacerte says they can't stop the payments either.  The IRS says to contact the third party processor but we don't know who that would be.

  • Call IRS e-file Payment Services 24/7 at 1-888-353-4537 to inquire about or cancel your payment, but please wait 7 to 10 days after your return was accepted before calling.

Precisely why I never set up estimated payments on the program.

Try this:

Go to E-File --> eFile Support Tools --> Clear Return --> Estimated Payments...

This won't work.  The only way is to follow George's suggestion.
