I have a client who did not efile. His return is very complex. We needed to amend his return since a K-1 was changed. I would like to efile the amended return. The system is requiring me to fix all the efile issues with the amended return. I wouldn't think Lacerte will be sending all the old information and only the amended information so why would the system require me to fix the efile issues on all the original already reported information? Is there a way around this?

You can only e-file an amended return if the original return was also e-filed.

No - unless the PTB at Intuit concede this is an asinine rule.
