I need to file a 2018 tax return.  I am unable because Schedule 1 shows as being in draft form.  What is the deal with this issue and when is it going to be fixed?  I filed all the 2018 returns with no issue, but now, the form goes back to draft???

I'm having the same issue and called the customer service line. I was told that it's due to an IRS issue and that it is expected to be fixed within a week.

I believe the schedule is being held up by CONGRESS not the IRS.  The bill HR3301 was introduced in the house 6/18/19.  It was placed on the Union Calendar (No. 300) on  1/21/20.  It has not been voted on.  It is known as the Taxpayer Certainty and Disaster Tax Relief Act of 2019.  At this point I do not believe it will go anywhere any time soon.  LaCerte needs to take the restriction off of the Schedule 1 form so we can get the remainder of our 2018 returns filed enabling people to possibly get relief for the COVID-19 pandemic.

I've found two 2018 returns this season I have to file and I'm also stuck with the Critical Diagnostic.  I assumed it was due to the retroactive measures passed with the budget 12/20/2019.

This is now a priority issue for Lacerte to resolve as the CARE act payments to individuals will be based on 2018 tax information.

Is there anyone from Lacerte who has an answer for us?

This needs to get resolved.  Not only will it affect the CARE payments, I have the added issue in Oregon of the surplus tax credit is based on the 2018 Oregon tax liability.  I cannot electronically file an Oregon return without a valid federal return.

There is no need to wait for Congress to act on an old issue to file these returns.

What is Lacerte thinking by making this a Critical Diagnostic?

Disable the efile diagnostic checking.  I successfully filed and had accepted a 2018 return by doing that.

Thank you!  Mine were accepted as well.

My returns had no retroactive provisions present and would have gone through exactly the same on the prior Schedule 1.

You're my hero!
