Using Fixed Asset Manager (FAM) to Import/Export Assets From One Return Type To Another

Problem Description

Is there a way to transfer assets from one return type to another (i.e. 1040 to 1120 or 1120S)?

Solution Description

Use Fixed Asset Manager to change the assets from one return type to another.
To Transfer the client into Fixed Asset Manager (FAM), Import the client from ProSeries:
  1. Go to File, select Import, choose ProSeries Tax.
  2. Open the file once in FAM. Then go to File and select Client Information.
  3. On the Forms Tab, choose the type of return that the assets need to be transferred to.
  4. Open an asset. Under 'Link to Federal Form', change the form to where the information should flow to in the return. Complete for each asset by opening individually.
  5. After this has been done, with the file open in FAM, go to File, select Export Client, then ProSeries, and choose Export.
  6. Keep the default destination and click OK.
To Import back into ProSeries:
  1. Open the ProSeries client you want to transfer the assets to.
  2. Go to Import and select Fixed Asset Import.
  3. Make sure the Look in shows as EXPORT (if it does not, click on the drop down box to C:/FamwinXX/EXPORTS).(XX is the year)
  4. Choose the file, then click Open.
