Resolving diagnostic Ref. 13225 for Form 1778 in ProConnect Tax

The following diagnostic may generate when e-filing Form-DR 1778 with attachments to Colorado:

An entry has been made in Electronic Filing, under the "Form DR 1778 - Attachments" section. All forms checked in the input screen must be attached to the Form DR 1778 Transmittal. Ref. #13225

How to mail Form DR 1778 with attachments to Colorado:

Colorado is unique in that they offer 3 options to send attachments to the state:

  1. Attach PDF documents to the e-file return in ProConnect Tax (no Form DR 1778 needed)
  2. Upload Form DR 1778 and attachments to the Colorado department of revenue (DOR) website
  3. Mail in Form DR 1778 with attachments

When you send attachments with the e-filed return, Form DR 1778 isn't needed. Follow these steps to clear the Suggestion and attach your documents to the e-file:

  1. Go to the Input Return tab and select General.
  2. Select Electronic Filing, then e-file Signature Main Form.
  3. Select the State & Local tab.
  4. Under the Form DR 1778 (Attachments) {CO} section, remove any entries.
  5. Select e-file PDF/Miscellaneous, then e-file Attachment. Selecting e-file Attachment under the e-file Miscellaneous section in ProConnect Tax
  6. Select Attach PDF.
  7. Locate the PDF file on your computer and open it.
  8. Scroll to the Colorado Information section and select the box labeled Send PDF attachment with Colorado return.
  9. Select the appropriate Form and line number on state return the attachment relates to.

After following these steps, Form DR 1778 and the Suggestion won't generate with the return. The PDF will be sent to the Colorado DOR when you e-file the state return. No signature or action by your client is needed, so no paragraph is added to your client letter.

  1. Go to the Input Return tab and select General.
  2. Select Electronic Filing, then e-file Signature Main Form.
  3. Select the State & Local tab.
  4. Under the Form DR 1778 (Attachments) {CO} section, enter 2 in 1=attachments mailed, 2=uploaded in revenue online.

This action will clear the diagnostic. Make sure that Form DR 1778 generates with the correct boxes selected before printing. The program will add a paragraph to your client letter reminding the client to sign the form and upload it to the Colorado Department of Revenue website with attachments.

  1. Go to the Input Return tab and select General.
  2. Select Electronic Filing, then e-file Signature Main Form.
  3. Select the State & Local tab.
  4. Under the Form DR 1778 (Attachments) {CO} section, enter 1 in 1=attachments mailed, 2=uploaded in revenue online.

This action will clear the diagnostic. Make sure that Form DR 1778 generates with the correct boxes selected before printing. The program will add a paragraph to your client letter reminding the client to sign the form and mail it with attachments.
