I've entertained for a variety of reasons, but mostly due to dissatisfaction, switching to another software provider. After more than two decades with Lacerte, this will likely be my last if they do not support the NJ BAIT issue which impacts a significant percentage of my commercial tax filings.
As a Lacerte user for many years I would agree that if they do not include this as part of their software I will seriously consider other venders for next tax season. How can they not include this?!
I find it unbelievable that for all of the money we pay for Lacerte, they don't offer support for this filing. I will definitely be looking into other software options for next tax season. Just another example of Lacerte missing the mark.
As a long-time subscriber to the complete, (and costly), ProSeries Library, the NJ module is the most critical state filing software for my practice. With price increases occurring year over year, it would seem that Intuit should have anticipated and allocated resources to program for this major NJ legislation which was introduced in 2018 and was passed over a year ago in January 2020. With all that practitioners are facing this tax season, not having the necessary forms will certainly make the filing season that much more arduous. I trust that Intuit will reconsider its position and provide the necessary support for its loyal customers who count on the software to make the tax filing season at least somewhat bearable. Thank you for the consideration.
Lacerte, please step-up and do the right thing with your thousands of NJ users. We all have many clients who took advantage of the NJ Business Alternative Income Tax. Please provide us with the tools to file the New Jersey PTE-100 for the 2020 tax year.
Please support NJ forms PTE-100 and PTE-200 for pass-through entity tax. Its going to be very difficult to manually enter to file them online for all clients.
I have been a Lacerte user for over 30 years. We have always paid a premium price for this great software. How can a premium software vendor, like Lacerte, not support a change in the NJ pass through entity law and provide an interactive form, extension, e-filing and payment support for this? Partnerships and S-corps represent a high percentage of our business returns. March 15th is going to be a hectic time and to have us go online with NJ to compute, pay and file these forms and extensions is ridiculous. We will then manually have to input this on the K-1’s? Lacerte get off your butts and provide this much needed interactive software to your loyal CPA Community!
How can Lacerte not include this form in their software. For what we pay and they hold themselves out as a top rate provider, not very happy. I'm sure UltraTax will beat them again!!!
This may be the last straw with Intuit. There has been a serious decline in quality, service and reliability over the past years with of course the annual increase in cost. To not provide service of the NJ PTE-100 is a complete failure of good faith to your Lacerte customers.
There is no excuse for a publicly traded company worth $102 Billion not to provide this service to its loyal customers. We have been using Proseries for 22 years. If they do not support this form, we will be moving to another provider.
Not including NJ PTE forms through Lacerte or any Intuit tax programs is utterly ridiculous. As a firm, we will seriously consider other tax software for 2021. 16-year customer of Lacerte. Very disappointed in this decision and suggest they reconsider their position. And not even a response....
We have been with Lacerte for 18 tax seasons and needless to say this is disturbing. Seems unfathomable that the PTE-100 is not being supported. We have hundreds of NJ pass-through business clients and not having this form available will significantly impact our practice.
@Lizzy042991Instead of starting your own party, why not join the one that's already going on? Just about everybody in town is there (well, almost anyway).
I find this irresponsible of our tax software not to accommodate the NJ BAIT and the respective forms. Why would we purchase software that is incomplete and not able to handle our Clients!!
Lacerte has always been an expensive high quality product. I expect that Intuit will be including PTE-100 form for this filing season or my firm will not be renewing our tax software with you in the future.
The PTE form is a new "tax return" form. The majority of our flow-through entity clients in NJ are opting in. There is no excuse for excluding the necessary associated forms from the '20 tax year subscription. This is what we pay dearly for. No different than if we tax preparers notify our clients that if they wish to opt in, they're on their own to prepare and submit the forms. Do your job Intuit.
It is appallingly irresponsible not to support Form PTE-100 in Lacerte and indicates a complete disregard for a minimal level of customer satisfaction. This form is as integral as the CBT-1065. Please get this done.
PTE100 is an important part of Partnership returns and must be added to the proseries program.
In addition for years, Form 1118 for claiming foreign tax credit has not been added and we can not file if we override the field. It should be corrected too , if proseries wants to continue maintaining its position in the current market place, it must update its software.
I have used Lacerte for nearly 30 years. Not supporting the PTE-100 and PTE-K-1 will no doubt be a game changer when our company renews its software this year.
Since I have many clients that have elected the NJ BAIT, if Lacerte does not support the PTE-100 forms it will be necessary to find another provider in the future. When paying a premium for tax software it is not too much to expect that we get a product that delivers.
Did not dream for one second that Intuit would not support NJ-Bait. can't see how any reputable tax software company can avoid providing this vital function.
I spent time last year researching alternatives to ProConnect Online and found some suitable candidates. At the end, I decided to stick with what I was familiar with, even though it's not the greatest and is still quite expensive. Knowing that PTO will not support the NJ-BAIT form is enough to send me back to my research. I cannot believe that NJ tax preparers will be left out in the cold on this, in an already horrible tax season (due to COVID, multiple stimulus payments, multiple PPP loans, Employee Retention Credit, etc.).
SDJayhawk - You mentioned "ProSeries and Lacerte intend to support the PTE forms and this development is in progress." I know PTO is on the Lacerte platform. Is PTO included in that development?
All, NJ PTE was released late last week so you should be able to file. We are seeing some electronic filing issues in ProSeries that we are working through. We appreciate your patience.
Did 1 all manual with NJ Took 45 minutes adding all the data in Bait election , PTE 100 form and payments. and 2021 PTE 150 estimates
Did second one-elected Bait allowed proseries to efile pte 100 and the balance due, and set up pte150 for 2021 and cbt150 2021 while in state website. Hope it works! Much faster
Thanks for the information, Tom Schad. One thing to note is that estimated payments for NJ PTE are not currently active in the ProSeries program but it is in development. Filers will need to go to the NJ portal for estimates. We apologize for the inconvenience.
This is all well and good for Pro Series users; when will BAIT filings be available for Lacerte users? We have one week left to file. Yes, NJ said no penalties if filed by April 1, but this impacts other returns and office flow as well. And how about giving us NJ Corps and S Corps already We can’t file those and it’s March 8! This has been a mess this year. I’ve been a Lacerte user since 1991 and it just seems to get worse every year!
One other point is that the vouchers to pay the PTE estimates for 2021 are not showing up on the Client Letter and do not seem to be available as an option under Edit Client Letter. Can they be added?
I Efiled one PTE-100 thru Proseries and It was accepted by by NJ-went on NJ website and still not showing as posted there-I guess I can wait
As for the 2021 PTE estimated on the letter I just handwrite in next to CBT 150 and lable columns CBT 150 PTE 150. Not the most professional But clients see it.
I also go on state website and set up payments for them-just easier
Thanks for the request. I'll communicate this to the individual development team for possible future implementation. Unfortunately, this will not be implemented for this year.
