Repair the Document Management System (DMS) Installation

If the Document Management System program installation is damaged, it may be necessary to run the Repair install. This can resolve some program errors and issues that may occur when printing to DMS.

Solution

Close all applications and then follow the steps below to perform a Repair install of the DMS program.
  1. Press the Windows key + R together on your keyboard to open the Run dialog box.
  2. Type Control and click the OK button to open the Control Panel.
  3. Locate the Programs section.
  4. Click on Uninstall a program.
  5. Locate the DMS program you need to repair:
    •  Lacerte DMS
    •  ProSeries DMS
  6. Right-click on Lacerte DMS or ProSeries DMS and select Change.
  7. Select the Repair option and then click Next.
  8. Check the box, Yes, enable the DMS toolbar for Microsoft Office Applications (if applicable).*Note- This is optional and you are not required to check this box. If checked Microsoft Office must already be installed on this computer.
  9. Click Next.The repair DMS install will complete.
  10. Select one of the options below:
    • Yes, I want to restart my computer now.
    • No, I will restart my computer later.*Note: The changes made by the repair install require the computer to be restarted to take affect. DMS should not be opened until after the computer has been restarted.
  11. Click Finish.
  1. Click on the Microsoft Start button on your taskbar.
  2. Click on Control Panel.
  3. Locate the Programs section.
  4. Click on Uninstall a program.
  5. Locate the DMS program you need to repair:
    •  Lacerte DMS
    •  ProSeries DMS
  6. Right-click on Lacerte DMS or ProSeries DMS and select Change.
  7. Select the Repair option and then click Next.
  8. Check the box, Yes, enable the DMS toolbar for Microsoft Office Applications (if applicable).*Note- This is optional and you are not required to check this box. If checked Microsoft Office must already be installed on this computer.
  9. Click Next.The repair DMS install will complete.
  10. Select one of the options below:
    • Yes, I want to restart my computer now.
    • No, I will restart my computer later.*Note: The changes made by the repair install require the computer to be restarted to take affect. DMS should not be opened until after the computer has been restarted.
  11. Click Finish.
  1. Click Start then Control Panel (Settings may precede Control Panel in the Start menu).
  2. Open Add or Remove Programs.
  3. Select Lacerte DMS or ProSeries DMS and click on the Remove button.
  4. Choose the Repair option and then click the Next button
  5. Check the Yes, enable the DMS toolbar for Microsoft Office Applications checkbox.
    • Note: This is optional and you are not required to check this box. If checked Microsoft Office must already be installed on this computer.
  6. Click on the Next button. The repair DMS install will complete.
  7. Choose the Yes, I want to restart my computer now or No, I will restart my computer later option and then click the Finish button.
    • Note: The changes made by the repair install require the computer to be restarted to take affect. DMS should not be opened until after the computer has been restarted.
