How To Enable Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.2 in Internet Explorer 11 .Windows 10 users:  Windows 10 has Internet Explorer 11 built-in, and TLS 1.2 is enabled by default. To confirm TLS 1.2 is enabled, follow these steps.
  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Go to the Tools menu.
  3. Select Internet Options.
  4. Select the Advanced tab and scroll down to the Security section.
  5. Check to see if you have TLS 1.2 enabled (checked).  If not, check the box to enable it.
  6. Select OK.
  7. Close Internet Explorer
  8. Open you tax software again to verify the original concern has been resolved.
Windows 7/8/8.1 users:  If you are using Windows 7, 8, or 8.1, you need to upgrade to Internet Explorer 11.   If you already have Internet Explorer 11, verify your TLS settings below.
  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Go to the Tools menu.
  3. Select Internet Options.
  4. Select the Advanced tab and scroll down to the Security section.
  5. Check to see if you have TLS 1.2 enabled (checked).  If not, check the box to enable it.
  6. Select OK.
  7. Close Internet Explorer.
  8. Open you tax software again to verify the original concern has been resolved.
  NOTE: TLS 1.2 is disabled by default on Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7. For information on enabling TLS 1.2 on these operating systems, see the article below provided by Microsoft.
