Resolving Fast Path errors in ProSeries

SOLVEDby Intuit24Updated 1 year ago

When attempting to e-file a return in ProSeries, you may receive a message informing you that you must have an active Fast Path in order to access a given feature.

Before you start:

  • ProSeries Fast Path is only valid for the calendar year. It will expire on the calendar year-end date of 12/31 of the given year.
  • If you are operating ProSeries as a network version, after relicensing the program on the admin computer, each workstation must close and reopen ProSeries. When ProSeries reopens on the workstations, the new licenses will be retrieved from the admin computer. Once this has been completed, the error will no longer be generated.

In most cases, this message is occurring because ProSeries has not yet downloaded the most current Fast Path license.

This situation will typically occur on a ProSeries network installation when the ProSeries admin computer is rarely used to run ProSeries (and it has not yet retrieved the Fast Path license).

In all cases, you can easily resolve this error by updating your licenses in ProSeries:

  1. If operating ProSeries on a network, you must be using the admin computer to retrieve product licenses.
  2. Open ProSeries.
  3. From the Update menu, select Update Installed Products.
  4. Allow any pending updates to install.
  5. From the Tools menu, select License Products.
  6. Verify the Firm Information. If the information is correct, choose Yes.
  7. Click OK.
    • Product licenses will appear confirming your license. Here you should see the Fast Path entitlement listed. Click Close.

When trying to e-file or print a tax return, the program generates the following error:

"This feature requires a Fast Path validation check"

A language format may have been activated in Windows regional settings.

Follow these steps to resolve the error:

  1. Go to Control Panel.
  2. Click on the Region setting.
  3. Make sure that the language format is set to English (United States).
  4. Click Apply.
  5. Click OK to exit the Region screen.
  6. Try to print or e-file the return again.

If you've renewed for upcoming tax year—and your order has processed—the prior-year programs will need to be updated to the current version, and then licensed again to retrieve the currently active Fast Path license in the prior-year programs.

If you haven't renewed ProSeries for the upcoming tax season:

  1. Click OK to continue working in the ProSeries program.
  2. Login to My Account to renew your ProSeries order.
  3. Click on Renew Now and follow the prompts provided.

To re-license ProSeries and retrieve your Fast Path license:

  1. License ProSeries online through the program.
  2. On the HomeBase view, go to Update.
  3. Click Update Installed Products and allow updates to run.
  4. From the Tools menu, select License Products.
  5. Keep the Online method marked and click OK.
  6. Review the Firm Information. If the information is correct, choose Yes.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Product licenses will appear confirming your license. Click Close.

Note: To install the next year's ProSeries software using the current year ProSeries Help menu option to Download Next Year's ProSeries Software, you must first retrieve your ProSeries Fast Path license in the current-year software, per the instructions above. Alternatively, you may also sign in to My Account and visit the Downloads page to download and install your next-year ProSeries software.
