Resolving "Setup is unable to find the required files for installation" error for Lacerte

During the initial web installation of Lacerte, you may encounter an error when choosing the local workstation direction, resulting in the following messaging:

"Setup is unable to find the required files for installation."

The typical solution to this is clearing the Windows Temp folder. Down below we'll go over you to do so:

Clearing the Windows Temp folder:

  1. Press the Windows + R keys on the keyboard.
  2. In the Search box, type %temp% and press enter.  This will open the Windows Temp folder.
  3. Delete the contents of the Windows Temp folder and then try the operation again.

This issue can also occur when using a proxy server, usually with a terminal server.  Bypassing the proxy should allow the installation to continue.  If that does not resolve the issue, please see the article here regarding Lacerte communications.
