He would be considered a part year resident in each state. In the client info screen make sure you have both states and click the Multi-State Return. Remember your rep access. Under state and local tab choose 55 and enter the dates. Remember to identify all entries to the proper state.
Under forms - Tax Payments - it is in the previous year so 2018 for the 2019 estimates.

Catherine - You go into the State tab 55 and assign each spouse their state and the dates of their residence in those states. You may need rep access to calculate the tax returns, so I would change both of their social security numbers to 999-99-9999 to get a trial run tax return in case you have to process a MFS state return. Go into E-File - drop down to e-file support tools follow the arrow going right, last option is Disable e-file error. Click on that and it will be gone. Go ahead an efile. If it comes back as not accepted you will need to resolve the error before attempting to efile again.
