You can choose to use the foreign earned income exclusion - Form 2555 or take the foreign tax credit-Form 1116. Work it both ways to see which gives the best tax result.

Beware that you cannot flip back and forth on the foreign earned income exclusion from year to year, so you and the client need to think ahead,  too.
