I'm using ProConnect Online.

I have a taxpayer with an employer provided HSA. The HSA is a family plan and I've indicated 2=family for both taxpayer and spouse on the Health Savings Accounts (8889) input.  I'm ending up with an excess contribution tax on Form 5329 because the contribution exceed the single amount.  How do I get ProConnect to recognize that the HSA contribution was for a family plan (and remove the excess contribution penalty)?

If you are referring to PTO not taking into account your entry for "2" on the line "Type of coverage: 1=self-only, 2=family", I couldn't replicate your problem on my end.

Could you post a screenshot of the F.8889 and F.5329 and perhaps we can try to decipher what actually happened?

Finally figured out my problem.  I was putting a "2" in both the taxpayer and spouse column.  I removed the "2" from the extra column and the tax was calculated correctly.
