New one for me.  DC resident renting out 3/4 of home.  This is reported on both 1040 and D-4O DC tax return.  I've done D-30 unincorp business returns for MD residents but not for DC residents.  If taxpayer has to pay D-30 unincorp business tax to DC and also pay on their resident D-40 isn't this a duplication of tax?  Yes, revenue is above $12,000 so not exempt.

ProSeries does not handle D-30/D-40 very well.  For the D-30 it's just a glorified typewriter (and I think it might still need to be paper filed).

On the D-40 though, you'll enter the amount of double taxed income in the subtraction section on line 11:

"Income reported and taxed this year on a DC franchise or fiduciary return."

Happy day....DC began accepting e-filed Form D-30 in 2016, and Lacerte and Proconnect have D-30 e-file support, but not Proseries.

Hi!

But can ProSeries efile D-30? or must it be paper filed only After you've selected those D-30 pages?

The DC D-40 is a blank form which is including the D-30, the latter of which is applicable as a client may Only have a DC rental property and nothing else.

The client letter does Not include Any information on D-30 as it keeps on showing Form D-40-B which is Not even used!

Update: According to the ProSeries Help Menu page for Form D-30:

1. Form D-30 is NOT supported for EFiling by DC so PAPER FILING ONLY!

2. This form has been added as a Basic Input form. All numerical entry fields must be entered by the User. THe form will automatically calculate totals, subtotals and some checkboxes.

3. Smart worksheet shows Different PO Box mailing address than the Client letter which will NOT show D-30 information: DC Office of Tax and Revenue, PO Box 96193, Washington, DC 20090-6193

Utterly Ridiculous!

Please note that @MrMojo has his own topic running, here:

No need to ask the same thing in two places. It makes it harder for the peer users that volunteer here, needing to follow in two places for the same thing and same person. Thanks.
