How do I enter a prior year tax refund for a newly married couple in 2020?
One itemized in 2019, using the deduction for state taxes actually paid, filing single i and received a state refund. The other itemized in 2019, using the deduction for general sales tax, filing single and had a state tax liability.

The fact that they are now filing their 2020 return as a married couple does not change how their state tax refunds from a prior year may be subject to tax based on tax benefit rule.
You would look to each of their 2019 tax returns and determine the amount of refund that may be taxable, if any.
