Thanks for the advice. You would think Lacerte would fix this problem immediately. I am beginning to wonder if they have any plans to continue to support or produce the software.
The only way I can even exit the stuck software is to Ctrl Alt Del, then end Lacerte!
Is there another way?
I decline to do in product update, exit the program and run the YYYY Lacerte Web Setup I am not sure if I can really blame Lacerte or Microsoft. Update typically works well, but I have become gun shy.
