The state return needs to be mailed to the client so they can sign and mail. Today being the 12th, we are afraid the client will not get it mailed in time. The real question is if we already e-filed the state return and got a reject, is that considered timely filed and now we can mail the state return in without being concerned about missing the March 15th deadline?

a) Can the state return be fixed so it will go thru efile?
b) With all this worry, file an extension and relax.

If you can't correct the error, you have ten days to get the return paper filed from the time of the rejection. Attach the rejection notice to the paper filed return. Or, just do the extension. Then go sit down someplace and relax for awhile, it sounds like you could use a break today.
