When e-filing a federal or state return, the Conversion Log generates a Return Conversion Failed error, but doesn't give a reason.

  • This article references default installation paths and uses YY to reference the tax year in 20YY format. C: will always indicate the local drive and X: will always indicate the network drive.

Repairing a damaged formset:

To repair a corrupt formset, you'll need to uninstall the formset that failed to convert. For example: US 1040 for a federal Individual return that fails to convert.

If the error message continues, the error may be the result of a damaged client file. Proceed with the next set of instructions.

Repairing a damaged client file:

  1. Open ProSeries.
  2. Open client file.
  3. From the File menu, select Save As.
  4. Change the file name to something different and save.
  5. Close the return.
  6. On the main HomeBase View (not the EF Center) right-click on the original return and select Delete.
