What types of returns can I submit for data conversion?
How do I backup my data for conversion?
- Create a new folder on your C: drive named ConversionData before you begin the backup process (for example, C:ConversionData).
- Open your CrossLink 2020 program.
- From the Work in Progress (WIP) screen, select Utility, then System Utilities.
- Select the Reset Encryption Key button and Run Utility.
- Change Encryption Key to 000. (Without the key, we can't access the backup data. Using a predefined key guarantees we can decrypt it.)
- From WIP, under Other Items, select the Backup Returns button.
- On the Backup Returns screen, choose Select All to select all returns, or select individual returns by selecting the boxes next to them.
- Select the Backup button.
- After the program tells you that you've backed up your returns, select Close.
- Browse to C:\xlink19 using My Computer or Windows Explorer.
- Locate the file that begins with ar19 or bk19.
- Right-click on the file and choose Copy.
- Browse to C:\ConversionData.
- Right-click and choose Paste.
How do I make sure my backup is correct?
Open C:\ConversionData to view the files that you've backed up. A valid CrossLink backup contains a file that begins with ar19 or bk19.
