This article will help you verify or enter your EFIN, PTIN, or an ERO PIN into ProConnect Tax.

How to verify your EFIN

To check whether your EFIN is registered to your account, select Settings at the bottom left of your program, then click on Firm Information.

How to enter your PTIN and ERO PIN

  1. Click Settings in the lower-left corner.
  2. Select Preparer Information.
  3. Click on the preparer name you need to edit.
  4. Enter your ERO PIN. This can be any five digits except all zeros.
  5. Enter the PTIN you received from the IRS. It should begin with a capital P.
  6. Click the Save button at the bottom right of your screen.

To enter the ERO contact name:

  1. Click Settings in the lower-left corner.
  2. Select Preparer Information.
  3. Check the DEFAULT option for the preparer assigned as the default ERO contact.

To verify your PTIN:

  1. Click Settings in the lower-left corner.
  2. Under YOUR FIRM, select Preparer Information.
  3. Click on the preparer name you need to edit.
  4. Check the PTIN Verification box.

These steps are required to clear the error "e-file: Please verify that the PTIN has not changed from prior year. (ref. #54810)."
