ProSeries File Types Explained

This article briefly explains the file extensions used by ProSeries to store information.

ProSeries Basic HomeBase

Stores data for the ProSeries Basic HomeBase views and their corresponding fields (beginning in tax year 2015) YYData (Ex. 18Data)
blb, dat, idx DMS Stores data including folder structure, client information, and client files. Open DMS and view Current Database Path
3us, 3uc, 3up FAM Fixed Asset Manager import files.  
inv Invoice Client invoice files. Common 
inv Update Contains module versions for update purposes.  Updates
dggn, hefs Forms Contains module versions for update purposes. Forms 
ltr, rtf Letters Contains letters and custom letters. Common
