DMS Scan Button Does Not Open the Scan Documents Window

Clicking the Scan button in DMS does not open the Scan Documents window.  No Error messages are received.

Solution

Clicking the Scan button in DMS will produce a Scan Documents window or an error message as mention in the description above.  If you do not see either, it means DMS has opened the desired window out of your view, usually due to changes in display configurations or settings. If this is the case, see DMS Not Appearing on Desktop.
If you do not see a Scan Documents window, have made no changes to the program's or computer's configuration, and there are no error messages, then the window might be minimized.  If so, there will be a small button near the bottom of the screen.  The button is not always going to be in the task bar. Locate the button and click the first of the three boxes located inside the button to restore the window.  If there is no button, (close all windows except DMS to make sure), follow the steps below.
To resolve this issue, remove DMS and reinstall from the web.

Follow these steps to remove DMS:

  1. Go to Start, point to Settings, and then Control Panel
  2. Click on Add or Remove Programs.
  3. Select  DMS and click on Change/Remove.
  4. Reinstall DMS via Web Download.  Click on Download Document Management System and follow the instructions on the screen.
Alternate Solution:
Malwarebytes has been known to cause computers to lock up when clicking on the scan button in DMS.  If Malwarebytes is installed it will need to be disabled in MSCONFIG from both the Services Tab and Startup Tab.
