How to select multiple clients in Lacerte

This article will help with how to select multiple clients at once, using the group selection or the Ctrl or Shift keys.

To select multiple clients using the group selection:

  1. Select the Clients list.
  2. Press F3 on your keyboard.
  3. Select one of the options from the Client Group Selection window:
    • All Clients
    • Client Name
    • Client Number
    • Client Status
    • No REP Access
    • State Tax Return
    • Preparer
    • Staff Preparer
    • Other
IF YOU CHOOSEDO THIS
All ClientsSelect OK.
Lacerte selects all clients.
Client NameEnter names or letters in the Client Name boxes in the lower box.
Lacerte selects all clients with names alphabetically between the names entered. For example, you select all clients between Sam and Smith or between B and T.
Client NumberEnter client numbers in the Client Number boxes in the lower box.
Lacerte selects all clients within the specified range.
Client StatusSelect a status from the Client Status list in the lower box.
Lacerte selects all clients having that status.
No REP AccessSelect OK.
Lacerte selects all clients that need REP access.
State Tax ReturnSelect a state in the State Tax Return list in the lower box.
Lacerte selects all clients filing a return for a specified state.
PreparerSelect a Preparer from the Preparer list in the lower box.
Lacerte selects all clients of the specified preparer.
Staff PreparerSelect a Staff Preparer from the Staff Preparer list in the lower box.
Lacerte selects all clients of the specified preparer.
OtherSelect search criteria from the Field list in the lower box.
In the First and Last boxes, enter a range appropriate for the selected field.
Lacerte selects all clients within the range.

To select multiple clients using the Ctrl or Shift keys:

  1. Select the Clients list.
  2. Select a client from the list.
  3. Hold down the Ctrl or Shift key and select other clients (while continuing to hold the Ctrl or Shift key).
