Acknowledgement Letter

DJLipton

When I printed this client's acknowledgement letter, it has a new (to me) paragraph -

"The Internal Revenue Service did not approve your electronic payment of the balance due.  Be sure to pay the tax due by check or credit card."

What is this about?  What triggered this?  "Approved"- why does the IRS need to approve a payment???

Which software are you using?   In ProSeries some people have seen that message on their acknowledgement Form 9325, but it was a false message and the payment WAS accepted....you may want to call the EFW phone number and inquire if it was really rejected or not.

You can inquire about or cancel an IRS Electronic Funds Withdrawal using the phone number found in the last paragraph here
