Understanding the REP Re-Connect Fee and Unpaid Balance Fee (UBF) in Lacerte

SOLVEDby Intuit7Updated 1 month ago

REP Re-Connect Fee

Accounts that haven't submitted payment on their REP (Remote Entry Processing) account within 2 consecutive billing cycles or have gone 6–8 weeks with no payment, could be locked. Locked accounts are charged a REP Re-Connect Fee (EULA Section 9.1) once the balance is paid.

The $50 reconnect fee will be applied to your account on the last day of the statement period. This fee isn't normally waived, but it can be reviewed by customer support on a case-by-case basis.

Refer to this article for instructions on contacting Lacerte support.

Unpaid Balance Fee

Lacerte customers who haven't paid their REP balance within 45 days of the statement end date will incur an Unpaid Balance Fee (UBF). These fees will appear on your REP statement based on the previous month's unpaid statement balance and will continue each month after that for any unpaid balance due.

The UBF is calculated based on 45 days from the statement end date if payment is not made in that payment cycle. This fee will be calculated on the 46th day, but will not be posted until the last day of the statement period.

The calculation is as follows:

UBF = (45 days/365) * .05 * (balance due)

Some states may require us to charge sales tax on REP, UBF, and Re-Connect Fees since it's considered gross receipts related to the sale of software programs for taxable items.

Frequently asked questions

This fee exists to encourage on-time payments to keep your account in good standing. We want to make sure you don't experience an interruption in this critical service to your business resulting from the late payment of your account.

Please refer to the Lacerte End User License Agreement covering REP Fees.  The section information is as follows:

9.2 REP billing statements will be delivered to Licensee monthly via either eStatements, email or direct mail communication. All statements are due immediately upon receipt. If payment is not received within thirty (30) days after the statement date, Intuit shall have the right to notify Licensee of such, and to disconnect Licensee from REP and EF services. In the event of any such disconnection, Licensee shall be liable for a reactivation charge of up to $50.00 to re-establish REP and EF services. In the event payment is not received within forty-five (45) days after the statement date, Intuit shall also have the right to charge late fees on the amount owed, calculated from the statement date to the date of payment, at 5% per annum. In the event payment is received but not honored by Intuit’s processing bank or agent, due to insufficient funds or other reasons, Intuit shall also have the right to charge a processing fee of $29.00 for such insufficient funds.

Follow these steps to access the EULA from within the program:

  1. Open Lacerte.
  2. From the Help menu, select About.
  3. Click the License button.

We added messaging to these communications:
