When attempting to launch ProSeries or when trying to authorize, print, or e-file a return; the error occurs: "Account files locking sequence error." or " Account files locking key is invalid."
To resolve this issue you must be at the computer where ProSeries is installed and contact Customer Service at (800)434-6818.
Once you have reached Customer Service, follow the steps below:
- Click on OK in the message dialog box to clear error.
- From the Tools menu...
- Hold down the Ctrl key on the keyboard.
Choose Pay-Per-Return then release the Ctrl key.
From the Pay-Per-Return Support Tools menu, click Reset File Version.
- If an error is received, the program will need to be reinstalled.
Have the code ready under Provide this number to the customer service representative.
- Enter the code provided by Customer Service after Enter Authorization Code and click OK.
